FH is a ‘cancer protection’ gene that helps to protect against kidney cancer and leiomyoma.
Everyone has two FH genes (one from their mother, and one from their father). If one of the genes is not working, this is known as having a faulty FH gene, or having a FH mutation. People with a faulty FH gene are known to have Hereditary Leiomyomatosis and Renal Cell Carcinoma (HLRCC).
