MET is a gene that helps control cell growth in the kidneys.
Everyone has two MET genes (one from their mother, and one from their father). If one of the genes is not working, this is known as having a faulty MET gene, or having a MET mutation. People with a faulty MET gene are known to have Hereditary Papillary Renal Cell Carcinoma Type 1 syndrome.
