Definition
Proteinuria is the abnormally high excretion of protein in the urine, which may be indicative of structural damage to the glomerular filtration barrier.
Onset/duration
Onset of proteinuria can be within days to weeks of commencing treatment.
Risk factors
Patients with diabetes, hypertension and/or kidney dysfunction, or who are receiving VEGF therapy, may be at increased risk for the development of proteinuria. Signs of proteinuria can include swelling of the feet or the whole body.
